Hello and welcome to the October Newsletter! As the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, we’re excited to bring you the latest news and happenings for October. Here’s what’s going on and coming up.
Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the southeastern states that were recently hit hard by the category 4, hurricane Helene. Florida, the Carolina's, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia are left with historic flooding, massive coastal devistation, and wide range of power outages that are effecting 2 million homes and businesses. More than 100 deaths have been attributed to the 800 mile path of this hurricane. Please keep the family's and businesses that are struggling with the aftermath in your thoughts and prayers, as well.
We just wrapped up our 3rd quarter of Daisy's Cause, For The Love of Paws. It's a senior pet sanctuary that gives senior citizens a peace of mind when they can't take care of their pets any longer. We raised a whopping $1770.00! We want to thank each and everyone of you that donated and purchased a seashell collar that helped raise money for this amazing organization.
This quarter kicks off the last Daisy's Cause of 2024. We're excited to fundraise for an organization called Animal Safe House. A 501(c)3 not-for-profit effort with two related missions: rescue pets for people escaping domestic violence and save dogs from being euthanized at high-kill shelters in neighboring counties.
Their mission has always been to provide temporary safe placement of pets who, like their owners, must flee domestic violence situations. While programs provide resources for people fleeing domestic violence, few have facilities for their pets. Most people with pets will not leave abusive homes if they cannot bring their furry loved ones along for fear of retaliation. Animal Safehouse meets this need by providing short-term fostering for these pets until they can be reunited or rehomed when necessary.
